Natural Nails Peeling

Nails that split and peel are very common.  Remember the natural nail is made of several layers of compressed skin cells.  If the ends of the nails and fingertips are used a lot....filing, typing water exposure... you will find that your nail peels at the ends.

The best remedy for this is simple.

  • Use lotions and oils to rehydrate your nail plate.
  • Cleanse the nail.
  • Use a natural nail file and file the free edge of the nail in one direction.
  • next take a 3-way natural nail buffer and starting with side one buff the surface of the nail to remove imperfections.  Pay special attention to the free edge/tip of the nail where the splitting and peeling occurs.
  • Once your nail is shiney cleanse the nails again and apply a natural nail base coat.
  • 2 coats of color
  • Top coat.... If you can not wear color then apply 3 coats of top coat.  This will give your nails the protection they need.... (see polish wear-ability for complete polish instructions)

For extreme peeling and chipping problems here is an additional step that works well.

after you have rehydrated the nail and cleansed it..... apply a thin layer of nail glue to the tips of all the nails that peel and split... Nail Glue is available in a brush on style that makes this very easy to do.  Then use the 3-wat buffer and proceed as directed above.
